Bread - So Much a Part of Life
In the olden days, bread baking was a daily routine. Many times a loaf of warm, fresh from the oven bread, with a topping of fresh-churned butter was a meal - in times of hardship, in times of scarcity. Today, the food industry provides a mind-boggling array of bread products - your choice, to mix and match to your heart's content. They did, however, with all the magic of science, leave out "just a little". That little is the aroma or scent of fresh-baking bread, a hint of spice, and the texture of kneaded dough that provided not only sustenance but a form of "therapy" for the baker.
It wouldn't take much to take a step back in time and give your family and friends that old-fashioned, yet timely, welcoming aroma that just brings them to the kitchen, awakens even the most sluggish appetite, and the smiles - well, that is the true "icing" on the bread. The convenience of electric mixers with dough hooks and even bread machiens, frozen loaves of bread that just need to have that...

A disturbing scene in an upcoming episode of "Couples Fear Factor" has prompted Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) to step up electrical safety warnings to its customers. In the episode, scheduled to air on the NBC television network on Monday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m. (EST), participants stand at a high-voltage electric substation and receive "minor" nuisance shocks."The reality of what would happen to anyone in this circumstance is far more tragic than portrayed in this show," says Chris Gent, KUA's manager of corporate communications. Rodent Proofing Your Home
It's that time of year where rats and mice are apt to enter our homes. Lets talk a bit about their abilities and senses first. Rats and mice cannot see very good beyond 3 or 4 feet but have a very good sense of motion up to 30 to 50 feet away and for the most part they are color blind. Rodents are most active at night. These rodents have a very good sense of taste so baits may be rejected by them if they are contaminated with insecticides or odors from other chemicals.
Even touching baits after smoking a cigarette will make these rodents to shy away from the baits. Rats and mice also have a good sense of smell. They mark pathways with urine and use their sense of smell to recognize the odors of the pathway to and from food sources. Their hearing is much better than humans and make noises in various situations such as mating. Rodents have a highly developed sense of touch due to their sensitive body hairs.
They rely heavily on touch and smell to guide them through movements....

Sponsor a Hurricane Affected Family
OAK BROOK, IL (ContentDesk) October 20, 2005 -- LovingNeighbors, a network of thirteen cross denominational church congregations has found a way to make a huge difference in the lives of homeless hurricane families.
With the help of Sears and Kmart, they are equipping FEMA trailer families with complete Home Starter Kits.
These kits are a fabulous idea because FEMA trailers lack the basic living necessities such as cooking utensils, linens and tools. People cannot even open a can of beans or make a cup of coffee, nor do they have sheets to sleep on, said Sandy Molenhouse from International Aid. We are hoping more communities follow their lead.
Home starter kits can be best described as a shrink wrapped bridal shower on a 4 x 4 pallet. They include dishes and glasses, silverware and utensils, pots and pans, bedding and towels, radios and tools, hair dryers, ice chests, chairs, toasters, coffee pots, cleaning materials and more.
The hardest hit areas...
