Galileo GIOVE-A Successful Launch with Marotta Propulsion Systems On-Board

Cheltenham, England (ContentDesk) January 7, 2006 - Marotta UK, Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has designed, developed and qualified equipment for the cold gas propulsion systems on board the Galileo GIOVE-A, part of Europes Galileo navigation program, successfully launched by Surrey Satellite Technology, Ltd.
(SSTL).The launch of the Galileo GIOVE, the first in a constellation of 30 satellites, marks Europes maiden entry into civilian-owned global positioning systems.
The complete Galileo constellation (27 operational and 3 active spares) will deliver real-time positioning accuracy down to one meter.
By placing the satellites in orbit at a greater inclination to the equatorial plane than current global positioning systems, Galileo will achieve better coverage at high altitudes, which makes it suitable for use over northern Europe, an area presently not well covered by GPS.

With a lead time of only four months, Marotta worked in close collaboration with SSTL to improve performance of and re-qualify its heritage DMC flight-qualified hardware, and contributed to the success of the platform build program with on-time delivery of propulsion system equipment series redundant, specialty valves controlling the flow of gas to the thrusters, as well as high-performance valves for propellant loading during launch preparation. The Galileo GIOVE-A launch marks the beginning of a landmark program for the European community, said Michael Leahan, Vice President and Chief Sales Officer of Marotta Controls, parent company of Marotta UK.
We are proud to contribute our heritage propulsion technologies to this long awaited and exciting program. About Marotta ControlsMarotta Controls, Inc., a worldwide authority in control solutions, has than 60 years leadership in providing customers with a broad array of high-performance products including high-pressure pneumatics, high-pressure pure air generators, pneumatic weapon ejection, electronic controllers, valve controllers, pressure reducers and manifolds, relief valve and check valves.

Chill Out With A Quality Ceiling Fan

Are you craving some air flow in your house? Is the air conditioner running as hard as it can go but it still feels stuffy and hot in your house? Try installing a ceiling fan and see if it will give you some relief. Ceiling fans create air flow in a highly decorative way. They are many different varieties of ceiling fans these days. The choices can be overwhelming. How do you decide what kind of fan and what size you need? You first need to measure the room where the ceiling fans home will be.

Your room size dictates the fan blade size. The small the room, the smaller the blade you will need on the fan. The larger the room, the larger the fan blade you need. For optimum airflow, ceiling fans should be hung no higher than seven to eight feet from the floor. This measurement will dictate the kind of mount you will need to purchase for your fan.

The blade pitch dictates how efficiently the fan blades move air. The steeper the pitch the more air the blades will move in your...

Taking the Ouch Out of Tech Support

(ContentDesk) October 11, 2005 -- With its offices in Camden Town - London, GadgetDoc provides consumers a utopian view of what tech support can be, when done right. Only using expert engineers who would normally get brought out as a third line of defence in most technical support services, GadgetDoc places a huge premium on something that is often forgotten in Technical Support - the customers valuable time. "Our customers are very busy people who have much better things to do with their time than to sit around waiting for the support line to pick up or for an engineer to arrive on time," said Babis Lagoussis, Sales Manager. GadgetDoc's revolutionary approach means that it places the onus on its engineers to get the work done on time and on budget. "We work on a fixed fee for success, meaning that if we do not fix your problem, we don't charge you.

If we take too long to fix it, then that's our problem too." So gone are the days when you nervously pace behind the support engineer...

Use the Right Floor Maintenance Equipment For the Job

Copyright 2006 The Janitorial Store

One of the first add-on services most cleaning contractors want to add to their janitorial service is floor care - stripping and waxing, burnishing, and buffing. In order to perform these services, you must use the right equipment for the job.

The following is a list of the most commonly used equipment that cleaning contractors use in floor care. Equipment is either electric, battery-operated, or propane. Most cleaning contractors will use electric equipment in smaller cleaning accounts and office buildings. Propane equipment is most often used on large floor areas such as those in retail stores and grocery stores.

Slow Speed Buffer (also known as a side-by-side or swing machine).

Slow speed machines are used for a variety of tasks including stripping floors, scrubbing floors, sanding wood floors, and carpet cleaning using cotton bonnets. They come in sizes ranging from 13" (for use in tight areas) to 20",...

Parallel Path Electromagnetic Motors -- A Revolution in Motion?

OSEN (ContentDesk via ContentDesk Direct) February 21, 2006 -- Joe Flynn from Flynn Research is working on a new technology called "Parallel Path" with Boeing Phantom Works. The technology claims to be able to increase magnet motor efficiency substantially, even over the 100% barrier. They have received a US Patent. At Flynn Research, Parallel Path electromagnetism is explained as a method of controlling and directing magnetic flux within the core of a motor to provide an exponentially greater motive force than conventional motors. From their technical brief about the technology, Parallel Path could very well usher in a new age of powerful and highly-efficient electric motors. The venerable electric motor operates on well-understood principles.

A stator contains a coil that when energized with alternating current, generates a magnetic force which in turn acts on a rotor to produce motive force. Electric motors can turn the blades of...
